Solemn Mass of St. Oliver Plunkett and veneration of Relic in Kilkenny

Today marks 419 years since the martyrdom of St. Oliver Plunkett at Tyburn on the 1st of July 1681 (in the Julian calendar). His feast is celebrated on the 11th in the Roman calendar, which is the date of his martyrdom under the Gregorian calendar which was of course only adopted in England in 1752. He was also the last Catholic martyr to die in England.

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the beatification of St. Oliver Plunkett and in thanks-giving for the past years work in Kilkenny, under his patronage, there will be Vespers and Solemn High Mass in Kilkenny at the end of July.
